Excelsior Medical

Excelsior Medical is the maker of SwabCap®, a non-venting disinfection cap that passively disinfects IV needleless connectors between catheter line accesses. SwabCap works by releasing 70% isopropyl alcohol when twisted onto the needleless connector (injection port). The disinfection cap's patent pending thread cover design helps create a seal to help ensure alcohol bathing of the needleless connector’s top and threads.

SwabCap is designed to easily and effectively disinfect needleless connectors. The disinfection cap aids compliance with the Joint Commission requirement for "a standardized protocol to disinfect catheter hubs and injection ports before accessing the ports."
